Transfer cash straight into your personal bank account

An unexpected bill. Cash for the kids’ school trip. Or when you’re trying to pay and they don’t take cards.

If only cash will do, and you need to put some money from your opus credit card into your bank account, you can.

A money transfer is quick and easy to arrange. And it can be cheaper than taking money directly out from a cash machine.

How it works

You can borrow anything from £50 and move it straight from your opus credit card into your bank account. The most you can move depends on your opus credit limit and balance.

You’ll pay the same rate of interest you pay when you buy things on your opus credit card (charged from the date you make the money transfer), instead of the higher interest rate you’d pay when directly withdrawing cash.

Plus a 3% or £3 transfer fee for each transfer you make – whichever’s the most.

How to make a money transfer

  1. Call us on 0333 220 2669*. Tell us you’d like to transfer some money into your bank account.
  2. Give us the details of the account where you’d like us to transfer the money – a UK current account in your name.
  3. Transfer anything from £50 up to a maximum depending on your credit limit and balance.
  4. You will usually have the money from a Money Transfer in your bank account within three hours, depending on the processing times and type of payment process employed by your bank. Outside of working days or after 3pm on working days, and on Bank Holidays and weekends, your Money Transfer will be processed on the next working day.

* Calls to 0333 numbers are charged at a standard national rate. Call costs from mobile companies and operators may vary so please check before calling.

How much you can transfer and what it costs

The smallest amount you can transfer is £50.

The most depends on your credit limit and card balance.

The fee you pay for each transfer is 3% of the amount you transfer, or £3 – whichever’s the most. We’ll add the amount you transfer and the fee to your card balance. We charge interest from the date you make the money transfer.

Here’s what you could pay for different money transfer amounts:

Before you make a money transfer

Do you only pay back the minimum payment every month? Make sure you can also afford to pay back the increase in your monthly payments from any amount you transfer on top of this.

Of course if you want to pay more you’ll bring your balance down sooner.

Outside of working days or after 3pm on working days, and on Bank Holidays and weekends, your Money Transfer will be processed on the next working day.

Q: Is your money transfer service available 24/7?
A: You need to speak to one of our team in person to arrange a money transfer, so you can only ask for one during customer service opening hours.

These are: six days a week, 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm Saturday. We are closed on Sunday. The number to call is 0333 220 2669*. We might record calls or monitor them for training and security purposes and to help us manage your account.

Q: Is there a limit to how many money transfers I can make?
A: Yes, you can make one transfer per day.

Q: Can I cancel a money transfer?
A: No, not once you’ve asked us to transfer the money to your account. And unfortunately we can’t refund the fee.

Q: Where can I see my promotional money transfer interest rate?
A: If you’ve just received your new opus card and we’ve offered you a promotional interest rate for money transfers, it’ll be on the terms and conditions that we sent with your new card.

If you’re already an opus card customer, we may have sent you a letter or email offering you a promotional money transfer interest rate. This will explain what the rate is and when your offer starts and ends.

You can also ask us what the rate is when you call to make a transfer. And of course if you make a money transfer we’ll make sure it’s included afterwards on your statement.

Q: Can I lose my promotional rate for any reason?
A: Yes. You can lose your promotional rate if:
- You don’t make your minimum monthly payments on time
- You go over your credit limit
- And/or your promotional period ends.
